Skipping Bleomycin this round

Lorelei visited her oncologist this morning but decided to delay taking chemo until tomorrow so she will feel well enough to go to the Thunder game tonight. Thunder Up! (And, by the way, the Thunder posted a video of her visit to the game in San Antonio here)

She’s been battling a cough and asthma-like symptoms since last week so, just to be cautious, Dr. Geister decided to remove the B from her ABVD treatment tomorrow.  B is for Bleomycin. This chemo drug is sometimes the associated with or will worsen pulmonary toxicity.  Instead of taking the Bleomycin this time she will begin a steroid dose pack to help reduce the inflammation in her lungs.  Steroids help with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma too, so it certainly won’t hurt.  Likely this is just asthma we’re dealing with. But Dr. Geister also ordered another Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) too.  That will happen next Tuesday. Praying the steroid does the trick with her lungs and that this is not anything but asthma.

In other news, look for the Oklahoman to do a news feature about Lorelei this weekend. Carla Hinton from the religion "beat" visited with Lorelei yesterday to take pictures and do an interview. I think the story will feature her Prayer Polish.

Short post for now. Thanks for all your support.

Psalm 91:14-16

New International Version (NIV)

14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation."
