Lorelei will be on TV tonight!

Lorelei's visit with her oncologist this morning was a bit out of the ordinary.   Not in a bad way.  It was actually something we planned for. Lorelei even put on makeup knowing she was going to be inteviewed this morning.  (By the way, it's almost like requesting to tour Fort Knox to ask permission for a news crew to come into a hospital.)

We arrived at ICIO at 8am for an 8:15 blood draw in the lab. After that Lorelei was to head over to Dr. Geister's office for an 8:45 appointment. But Lorelei was so stopped up all of her m's sounded like b's.  We definitely needed to get some Afrin in her nose before the interview at 9:15.  So as we sat waiting for the pharmacy to open we did a little people watching. Several people walk by.  One group said "Hey! There's Coach Lorelei!" as they walked by.  That never gets old.

The visit with the oncologist was encouraging.  Blood work looks good.  No need for any blood transfusions.  And her lung function tests looked great.  The previous issues were most likely asthma and not chemo lung damage.  So Dr. Geister decided to go ahead and add back in the Bleomycin for tomorrow's chemo.  If lung problems begin again we'll just leave out the bleo from her final two treatments.

During this visit Lorelei was followed around by a KOCO.com news crew and her favorite reporter Rachel Calderon.  Rachel has been interviewing various Thunder coaches and players this past week in preparation for a story about the special relationship built between Lorelei and the Oklahoma City Thunderorganization since she served as coach on April 24 (via Make-A-Wish.)  Rachel's own mother has battled a blood cancer so Lorelei's battle takes on special meaning. She wanted to interview Lorelei "in her environment" at the hospital. Of course we gave Rachel and her camera man lime green bracelets. (Everyone else already had them!)

After the interview Lorelei got to meet with INTEGRIS Cancer Institute of Oklahoma President Phil Lance and give him a lime green bracelet. That was special.  He said he's looking forward to July 11 when Lorelei will be an honored guest at a special breakfast meeting at the hospital.  That breakfast is at 7:00am and she made sure he knew what a sacrifice that will be for her!

When we arrived home Rachel called.  She said the KOCO Sports Director Bob Irzyk had invited Lorelei to join him for some on-air analysis at the Pre-Game show in Thunder Alley.  She'll arrive at 6:15 and the show begins at 6:30.

Some time between now and 5:00 when we head down town we need to go by Cuppies and Joe to pick up a special little pie she will take to Kendrick Perkin's four year old son.  It's come to national attention recently that Lil' Kendrick Perkins Jr. likes pie.

Please pray we're able to sneak it into the Chesapeake Arena!

So, our DVR is scheduled to record ABC from 5:00 to 11:00.  If you watch, be sure to look for the lime green wristbands!

Psalm 91:14-16

New International Version (NIV)

14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation."
