Final chemo treatment!

Lorelei will undergo her final (12th) chemo treatment today. It's been a long, painful journey for her, and yet she's endured chemo with the grace and poise of a person twice her age.

Yesterday she gave me a small glimpse as to how tired and weak she feels. She was asked to speak to a group of business executives about sponsoring the LLS Light the Night event this October. She did very well speaking in front of the crowd [as always ;) ] but as we left, she asked me to carry her very small bag. She said it was heavy. I expressed my surprise at this. She told me she's not talked about how weak she feels; she's been sparing me of that info. Wow.

Please feel free to visit Lorelei at the hospital today some time after noon. She should be ringing the bell around 2:30 or 3:00. We plan to video that and post it to YouTube!

What's next?

After she "recovers" from the effects of this chemo she will have another PET scan. The results of this scan (and other tests) will be used by her radiological oncologist to determine the plan for radiation. She's been told that radiation will be a cakewalk compared to chemo. I pray that is true!

Psalm 91:14-16

New International Version (NIV)

14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation."
