C-cation ended early. Surgery tomorrow.

So much for the c-cation. I guess her doctors didn't get the message that Lorelei was taking a break from cancer this week.

Dr. Keole called and said that Lorelei's port is of a density or has some sort of metal in it that is interfering with protons and needs to come out before proton therapy can begin.

So, Lorelei will report to Oklahoma Heart Hospital at 10:30 tomorrow (Wednesday July 25) for surgery to remove the port. We're hoping her thoracic surgeon Dr. John Randolph will also be able to "fix up" the scar that developed when her body rejected the internal stitches used during its placement.  When Dr, Randolph did her mediastinoscopy and port placement surgeries he used some sort of internal stitches and then dermabond on the exterior so she'd have pretty scars. Unfortunately, her little body appears to have rejected those internal stitches as they festered out causing the nicely closed external incisions to open up and heal poorly.  Please pray he's able to close her incision tomorrow in a way that her body accepts!

Psalm 91:14-16

New International Version (NIV)

14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation."
