Bottoming Out

Day +4 (Morning)

Lorelei's WBC was 0.2 last night and hemoglobin was low enough to justify another blood transfusion. She's getting close to the bottom where we hope she'll be only briefly before her new bone marrow begins to engraft.

We're very thankful she's not had any infections and has not had to deal with fever as many others do. We hope it stays that way!

Words cannot adequately describe how badly she wants to get out of here. She's as miserable as any isolated social 18 year old can be. But she's not complaining.

She's not eating much. (No appetite plus it hurts to eat--throat numbing wash is not attractive to her--she'd rather not eat.) So she deals with the staff "yelling at her" to eat. I wonder if she may not actually enjoy a little passive aggression in this. Heck, she has absolutely no control over anything else in her life. I totally understand.

On a positive note for her, she enjoyed a little Twitter fame last night with her witty tweet about James Harden's trade. Her tweet trended for a while and was retweeted over 300 times in just a short while. At least she has her Thunder family to keep her mind occupied with non-cancer stuff. She's ready to be well and help Scotty Brooks groom Kmart and Jamb into the teammates we need.

Thanks for continuing to encourage Lorelei. It's hard for me to be what she needs all the time. (I fail miserably most of the time.) But we really see God's love expressed through your notes of encouragement. She may not respond but she reads them all.

Dear Miss Lorelai, You don't know us or our Mom but we want you to know we are all praying for you and check here everyday to see how you are doing. Mom said to tell you that she knows from experience that it is not the speed but the thoroughness of the recovery so as hard as it is, try to be patient.

Tell Georgie and Ellie to keep us posted through the twilight bark and that we will be adding our special medicinal Yorkie kisses to theirs. Also if you need us to chew on a Nurse ankle or two for yelling, just say the word.

Gotta run and get our Mom out the door to your Dr. G.

I saw this one on Netgalley and thought about reenqstiug it, but now I'm glad I didn't. I'm sorry you didn't like it. I hate when books info dump and when there are characters I can't connect to. So I'll be passing on this one. Thanks for the honest review!Krista R recently posted..

Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though
you relied on the video to make your point.
You clearly know what youre talking about, why
throw away your intelligence on just posting videos to your site when you could be
giving us something informative to read?

First off I would like to say superb blog! I had a quick question in which I'd like to ask if you do not mind.
I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your thoughts prior to writing.
I've had trouble clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there.
I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost
simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any
recommendations or tips? Thank you!

Psalm 91:14-16

New International Version (NIV)

14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation."
