9th PET Scan in 21 Months

This is the evening before Lorelei's 60 day post-transplant PET scan. Tomorrow's scan will be her ninth. The previous eight have all glowed indicating active cancer. We've hoped and prayed before each and every one. We've had faith that each scan would be THE ONE to show she was finally in remission. But we've never yet heard the R word. This process has led to a pretty strong anxiety response. Pavlov's dog learned to salivate in fewer bell rings. So, we covet your prayers for extinguishing anxiety. Lorelei's heart is prepared for the result of this PET, no matter what it will be. She'll have the scan tomorrow and we'll meet with the doctor on Monday about the results.

As I remember our Hefner-viola-orchestra-days, I smile to think of your eagerness-to-learn, your determination to excel and your inspirational spirit. Nothing has changed. You are that same model today and you are still dear to me. As I play in the church orchestra tomorrow morning, your name will be taped to the top of my music stand. Lovely Lorelei.
